Third Presidential Debate
This third and final presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton entailed a series dirty and low attacks to one another. Overall, this election has been the most vulgar and tasteless presidential debate in the history of the United States. Instead of debating with one another on sensible policies and ways to improve America as a whole, personal attacks and defamation littered the debate. Clinton quotes, "Well, that’s because he'd rather have a puppet as president than the United States and it's pretty clear" (NPR, 2016). Trump can be stated saying in return, "No puppet. You’re the puppet" (NPR, 2016). These series of low blows and attack perpetuate every stereotype foreigners have about Americans, and is a mockery of past great presidents like Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. I hope this election has been just desperate attempts to hurt each other's credibility, and that whoever wins the election, will carry themselves more presidentially.

Ben,
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with your interpretation of the third presidential debate and the presidential elections in general. Rather than addressing real American issues such as police relations with the African American community or increasing national debt, a large part off the three presidential debates have been spent on Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton slighting each other. For example, during the first presidential debate, Hillary Clinton spent one minute of a fifteen minute segment questioning Trump about his unreleased tax returns. In response, Trump said "I will release my tax returns against my lawyers wishes when she releases her 33,000 emails that have been deleted" (Business Insider, 2016). Rather than focusing on their campaigns and American issues, Trump and Clinton focused on their personal issues and making each other look bad or unqualified. In addition, Donald Trump has released several advertisements slighting Hillary Clinton about her failures in Washington, such as the Benghazi situation and assisting the creation of ISIS, rather than focusing on solely American issues. My one question for you is: which candidate do you think would act most presidentially if elected for office?
